The loss of Moldavian winemakers may amount to hundred of millions USD in case of imposing a ban on wine import by Russia. This is the conclusion made by Dumitru Todoroglo, Chairman of Parliamentary Commission of Moldova on Agriculture and Food Industry, within the video bridge between Moscow and Chisinau. According to him, currently, 12 trucks and several railway wagons with wine products are staying at Russian border. However, these products are neither allowed importing to Russia nor returned to Moldova. “Russian authorities need to find the grounds.

 

That’s why the cargo is staying. We didn’t see the official explanation yet, we are still waiting,” – Dumitru Todoroglo said. Besides, up to now the methods of determination of dibutylphthalate presence and the corresponding control norms didn’t exist before. “Our experts didn’t receive from Moscow specialists the information on how to reveal and determine the presence of dibutylphthalate,” – Dumitru Todoroglo noted.

 

He added that Moldavian laboratories were ready to carry out the similar tests. According to Dumitru Todoroglo, the Moldavian authorities have already filed the amendments to the law in order to create a special system of additional control of the national wine products. Herewith, Moldavian authorities count on transparent relations with Russian inspection authorities. Also Dumitru Todoroglo expressed his hope that the embargo on Moldavian wine deliveries to Russia wouldn’t be put. According to him, Moldova will take a complex of measures in order that Moldavian products corresponded strictly to the requirements of Rospotrebnadzor.

 

Meanwhile, he didn’t exclude the existence of problems of dangerous substances (pesticides) presence in certain batches of wine. Herewith, he emphasized that similar single facts shouldn’t become the reason for blocking the whole sector. The ecological level of raw materials in Moldova today is even higher than it was in the Soviet times. Besides, the laboratories and equipment for Moldavian winemaking plants is purchased in France and Italy. “We need an impartial assessment of products quality. We aren’t afraid of competition,” – Dumitru Todoroglo stressed. Moldavian authorities believe there exists a political constituent in this conflict but it is removed through economic constituent.
