Moldova proposed Russia to open additional terminals for the supplies of Moldovan wines

05.06.2010 10:27

Moldova proposed Russia to open additional terminals for the supplies of Moldovan wines in Saint-Petersburg, Bryansk, ports Caucasus and Temruyk. This was informed by the Ministry of Agriculture, adding that the agreement on opening new terminals in Russia was reached with the Russian side before within the frameworks of the Intergovernmental Russian-Moldavian commission on trade-economic cooperation.

However, opening of the extra terminals is delayed. During the meeting held the last weekend in St. Petersburg the Prime Minister of Russia Vladimir Putin and the Prime Minister of Moldova Vladimir Filat have agreed that the new terminals will be opened in the short term. It is planned that the first extra terminals for the supply of Moldovan wines in Russia will be opened in St. Petersburg and Bryansk.

Previously, Chisinau and Moscow agreed that Russia will open six additional customs terminals for the supply of Moldovan wines. It is planned that they can be opened in 2010 in Bryansk, St. Petersburg, Kaluga, Orel, Taganrog, and Krasnodar. Currently, all Moldovan wine production is exported to the Russian market through a "single window" - a terminal in Moscow region.

As the Minister of Agriculture and Food Industry of Moldova Valeriu Cosarciuc has noted, opening of six new customs terminals in Russia would reduce transport costs of Moldovan exporters and more than double monthly sales of Moldovan wine production in Russia - from $ 3 million up to $ 6-8 million.
